Motorcycles with alternators (for street use) AND with fuel injection: Four-cylinder in-line cylinders up to 1200ccm, twins up to 850ccm
Motorcycles for the race track WITHOUT alternator AND with carburettor: Four-cylinder in-line engines up to 600ccm, twins up to 750ccm
Here they are, the LiPower battery packs, effortlessly capable of starting 600cc as well as 1 2 00cc inline 4 motorcycles .
I would use this battery pack for twins up to 850cc, because with poor starting behavior (which can happen sometimes) the power requirement is simply too high with twins that reach 1000cc.
A special version, which is provided with triple output lines in order to also meet the high starting power requirements of 850 cc twin cylinders and at the same time to have an open line for quick charging .
These cells are able to provide 300 amperes for a short time for the starting process !!
The potential for weight savings is brutal, because while normal 5 Ah batteries weigh about 2 kg, these LiPower packs weigh only 655 g!
And this battery, although its end-of-charge voltage is slightly higher than that of lead-acid batteries, is still 100% charged even with the normal motorcycle regulator. And - due to its narrow design, it can be attached to many places on the motorcycle, although it is important to ensure that the temperature does not exceed +70°C, so some cooling air should already be available when you put this LiPower pack in placed near the engine.
For a much longer service life of these LiPower packs, it is recommended to "balance" them with a special charger overnight every 2 months , which is why these packs also have a special plug, which allows them to be charged over time to adjust the resulting different voltages of the cells.
A service life of up to 1000 charging and discharging cycles is then possible.
And one last thing, almost the icing on the cake:
These cells can be fully charged in 15 minutes with an external charger !!
Ideally suited for everyone who wants to do without the alternator (and its corresponding mass inertia).
Here it is advisable to buy maybe 2 Lipower packs, where one is charged while the other is just in operation.
A recommendation for the operation of racing motorcycles without an alternator:
for carburetor racing bikes, a Lipower Pack lasts about 1/2 to a day of racing without recharging.
4.6 amps is simply not enough for injection motorcycles , so I recommend at least 6.9 amps, but 9.2 amps is better.
