This is a unique anthology of forty five poems in the Kiswahilil language, each with an English translation, which were short listed for the Ebrahim Hussein Prize for Swahili Poetry from 2014-2020.The Prize has received over five hundred submissions from all over mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar and its panel of judges was chaired by Professor Mulokozi, a renowned expert on Swahili literature. The poems capture the sentiments of many Tanzanians on a range of issues in the second decade of the twenty first century. The Prize has been funded by the family of the Canadian film maker, Gerald Belkin, who whilst filming at the village level inTanzania in 1971 and 1972 became a close friend of the playwright and poet.
